FAQ

Common Questions.

+How deep do residential trenches need to be?

It depends on what the trench is for and what your licensed plumber, electrician, or utility contractor specifies. Drainage trenches are sloped for proper fall and outfall. Conduit and pipe trenches are dug to the depth your contractor requires. We confirm requirements before we dig and trench to the correct depth every time.

+Do you call in utility locates?

Yes — every job. Tennessee 811 locates are non-negotiable. We don't put a bucket in the ground until existing utilities are marked.

+Do you install water, electrical, gas, or communication lines?

No. CANDO LLC is an excavation contractor, not a utility contractor. We do not install or hook up water lines, electrical lines, gas lines, or communication lines. What we do is cut clean, properly sized, properly sloped trenches and coordinate with your licensed plumber, electrician, or utility contractor so they can install the line and we can backfill it correctly.

+Can you trench under a driveway or sidewalk?

In many cases, yes — either by directional boring with a partner or by cutting and properly restoring the surface. We'll discuss the best approach for your specific situation.

+How much does residential trenching cost?

Most residential trenching projects in Middle Tennessee fall between $8 and $20 per linear foot depending on depth, soil, and access. Specialty work (rock, restoration, deep runs) is priced separately. Every estimate is free and written.

+Do you do the actual utility hookup?

No. We handle the trench, the bedding, the backfill, and the rough excavation. The line itself and the final hookup are installed by your licensed plumber, electrician, or utility contractor — we coordinate closely with them so the trench is exactly what they need.

+Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. CANDO LLC is fully licensed and insured in the state of Tennessee.

+What areas do you serve?

Columbia, Spring Hill, Franklin,  Thompson's Station, Chapel Hill, Lewisburg, Santa Fe, and the surrounding Maury and Williamson County areas.

Residential Trenching Contractor in Middle Tennessee

CANDO LLC is a residential trenching contractor serving homeowners across Maury County, Williamson County, and the surrounding Middle Tennessee area — including Columbia, Spring Hill, Franklin,  Thompson's Station, Chapel Hill, Lewisburg, and Santa Fe. As a drainage-first excavation contractor, our trenching work focuses on drainage trenching, conduit preparation, and utility trench coordination — we are not a utility contractor and we do not install water, electrical, gas, or communication lines.

Drainage Trenching

Drainage trenching is the heart of what we do. French drains, surface drain outfalls, foundation drainage, downspout drainage extensions, and yard drainage improvements all live or die based on trench depth, slope, and bedding. As a drainage-first excavation contractor, we cut these trenches with the right fall every time. Pair this with our drainage solutions.

Conduit Preparation

For projects that need electrical or low-voltage conduit run between a house, garage, shop, or outbuilding, we prepare clean, properly sized trenches at the depth your licensed electrician specifies. We dig the trench and prep the bedding — your electrician sleeves and pulls the conduit, and we come back to backfill it correctly.

Utility Trenching Coordination

On new builds and additions we coordinate trench excavation with the rest of the site preparation work so your licensed water, sewer, electric, and gas contractors have clean, properly sized trenches ready when they show up. CANDO does not install the lines themselves — that work is performed by the appropriate licensed contractor. We dig, they install, we backfill. Done in the right sequence, you save time, money, and reworked landscaping.

Precision Excavation and Restoration

We trench with modern equipment that gives us tight lines and consistent depth, which matters when the next trade has to work in the same trench. We backfill carefully, knock the spoil pile down, and leave the yard as close to "ready to seed" as possible.
