FAQ
Common Questions.
+How much does a new gravel driveway cost?
Most residential gravel driveways in Middle Tennessee run between $3,000 and $15,000 depending on length, width, base depth, and culvert needs. Every evaluation is free and we put pricing in writing.
+Why does my gravel driveway keep washing out?
Almost always one of two reasons: bad grade (the driveway is slightly bowled instead of crowned, so water runs down it like a creek) or bad drainage (no shoulder ditches, undersized culvert, or no outfall for runoff). We fix both at the same time so the repair actually holds.
+Can you just add gravel on top of my existing driveway?
Sometimes — but only if the base is still sound and the grade is correct. Adding fresh stone on top of ruts and washboards just buries the problem until the next storm. We'll tell you honestly whether top-dressing will work or whether the drive needs reshaping first.
+Do you install culverts?
Yes. We size, install, and replace driveway culverts to match the actual drainage load. An undersized or crushed culvert is a major cause of driveway washouts.
+What type of gravel do you recommend?
Most residential driveways in our area perform best with a compacted base of larger crushed stone topped with #57 or a dense-graded surface course. We'll recommend the right combination for your soil and traffic.
+Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. CANDO LLC is fully licensed and insured in the state of Tennessee.
+What areas do you serve?
Columbia, Spring Hill, Franklin, Thompson's Station, Chapel Hill, Lewisburg, Santa Fe, and the surrounding Maury and Williamson County areas.
Residential Driveway Contractor in Middle Tennessee
CANDO LLC is a residential driveway contractor serving homeowners throughout Maury County, Williamson County, and the surrounding Middle Tennessee area — including Columbia, Spring Hill, Franklin, Thompson's Station, Chapel Hill, Lewisburg, and Santa Fe. We've been moving dirt and building driveways for more than two decades. Almost every driveway problem we see comes back to two things: grade and drainage. That's what we specialize in.
Washed-Out Driveways and Rutting
A washed-out driveway is a drainage problem first and a gravel problem second. If water is running down the length of your drive instead of off the sides, no amount of fresh gravel will solve the issue for long. We reshape the surface with a proper crown, cut clean shoulders so water can escape, and address the runoff coming in from above. The result is a drive that sheds water instead of channeling it.
Driveway Grading and Drainage
Driveway grading is the difference between a drive that lasts 10 years and one that needs repair every spring. We grade with the right cross-slope and longitudinal slope for your terrain, and we tie the driveway drainage into the rest of the property so water has somewhere safe to go. Pair this with our drainage solutions or erosion control services if washouts have spread beyond the drive itself.
New Driveway Installation
For new driveway installations we start with clearing and rough grading, build a properly compacted base, install or upsize the culvert at the road, and finish with the right surface course for the soil and traffic. We can also coordinate with your site preparation work if a new build or addition is in the plans.
Gravel Replacement, Resurfacing, and Culvert Work
Sometimes a driveway just needs a fresh top course; sometimes it needs to be torn down to the subgrade and rebuilt. We'll tell you honestly which one yours needs. We also size and install culverts properly so they handle Middle Tennessee's heaviest storms without backing up and undermining the road edge.
Long-Term Driveway Maintenance
A well-built driveway still needs occasional attention. Periodic regrading, top-dressing, and shoulder cleanup will keep it performing for years. When you hire us, we'll walk you through what to watch for so small issues never become expensive ones.
